When did you last take some time off?

If your answer takes more than a little while to arrive, we invite you to consider why that might be happening. We absolutely, positively understand what it’s like to be head-down in a busy period, with more work than you can handle in a regular work day or week. We also know what it’s like to be going through a dry spell that has you out there, making as many new connections as possible and driving traffic to your virtual door.

In both situations, you might feel pretty strongly that your unique skills and talents are the only ones you can rely on right now. Whether you don’t have enough money to hire someone or don’t have enough time to bring on a new team member, there’s always a great reason to avoid adding to your team, and to keep driving yourself even harder. Perhaps the pandemic has created more opportunities for you, or driven them further away.

As we work our way through and out of that crisis, your Admin Slayer team has been focused on our theme of recovery. Whether you need to understand where you are in your business, what it means to be a leader, how to communicate, stay authentic, or maybe even pivot, recovery is a vital part of ensuring that you make it to your next level of success.

Staffing is one of the most complex and important components of any business, whether you decide to outsource or hire within. Crises can make this component so much more difficult than it already is. This month, we’ve got some thoughts about how you can develop or tweak your staffing strategy so that you can keep the wheels on your business - and maybe take a day off once in a while. We’ve also got a great guest post from Wendy Woloshyn of Kent Employment Law, summarizing some of the key legal aspects you may want to consider if you need to release your existing staff on a temporary or permanent basis.

If you’re too slammed to read but have a few minutes to listen, our CEO, Julia Chung, had a great conversation about outsource staffing, delegation, and business building, with Robyn Crane on her podcast, Growing Your Financial Business… The Woman’s Way. As always, Julia wants you to value your own time, and your energy, so you can grow your business without burning out.

Take it from someone on our team who happens to be an expert in managing her own time and energy: Tracey! Our Chief Knowledge Officer has her fingers in endless aspects of the Admin Slayer business which spreads across multiple days every week. Her “Day In The Life” story focuses on one particular day she spent supporting and training team members, recruiting and hiring new staff, and getting out in the sun before trying out a new recipe (which she, of course, added to her personal database).

Finally, while it is several weeks late, we want to wish you - along with all of our Slayer parents - a very happy Mother’s Day! We know that the day can be bittersweet for some of us, as it is for Julia, who shares in this article some of the values gained from her own mother, which we get to experience each day on our team.
